Working Principle

The tilting rotary furnace works on a combined principle of rotation and tilting. The cylindrical furnace shell is mounted on rollers and rotated by a drive system at controlled speeds. A high-velocity burner fires into the furnace through the opening, creating intense heat that melts the charge material. The rotation ensures uniform exposure of all material to the flame, improving heat transfer efficiency and preventing hot spots. Salt flux may be added to promote dross-metal separation. Once melting is complete, the rotation is stopped and the entire furnace is tilted hydraulically to pour the molten metal into a ladle or holding furnace. The dross and slag are removed separately, maximizing metal yield.
