Muffle Furnace

Muffle Furnace

Industrial Furnaces

High-temperature muffle furnace for laboratory and industrial applications including heat treatment, ashing, and material testing. Precise temperature control up to 1200°C.

Working Principle

A muffle furnace operates by heating a separate insulated chamber (the muffle) using external heating elements. The workpiece placed inside the muffle is heated indirectly, ensuring no contact with combustion products or heating element materials. Electric heating elements (typically Kanthal wire or Silicon Carbide rods) are embedded in the insulation surrounding the muffle chamber. When energized, these elements generate radiant heat that transfers through the muffle walls to the workpiece. The PID controller continuously monitors the chamber temperature via a thermocouple and modulates power to the heating elements to maintain the desired temperature. The insulated construction minimizes heat loss, ensuring energy efficiency and uniform temperature distribution throughout the working chamber.
